Covid-clean Accommodation – We’re Good To Go!
At Broomhill Manor we are committed to providing an excellent experience for our guests. During lockdown we have been adapting and redesigning our processes and cleaning protocols, to enable us to continue to deliver an excellent guest experience and safe environment for both guests and staff alike. We are grateful to our industry body PASC UK, the Professional Association of Self Caterers, for their guidance and support and none more so over these last few months when the industry has been on its knees. One of the very positive outcomes has been a new set of Cleaning Protocols that have been put in place with full training and the support of the main industry bodies – PASC, Visit England, The AA and UK Hospitality and endorsed by UK Government to enable safe opening of the sector.
The “We’re Good To Go” industry standard mark is a self-assessment scheme that has been designed by VisitEngland in partnership with the national tourist organisations Tourism Northern Ireland, VisitScotland and Visit Wales to provide a ‘ring of confidence’ for all sectors of the tourism industry, as well as reassurance to visitors that businesses have clear processes in place and are following industry and Government COVID-19 guidance on cleanliness and social distancing.
Accommodation providers that have complied with these new and rigorous protocols, have been granted the Covid-Clean “We’re Good to Go” standard mark and you should look out for the “We’re Good to Go” logo when you are booking your accommodation.
Broomhill Manor has adopted these new protocols in its cleaning regimes. As you can imagine, there are challenges for our team in implementing social distancing whilst operating the new 2 stage cleaning process which takes our already very thorough and comprehensive clean to the next level with a further disinfecting stage, ready for guest arrival.
To give you a bit of insight, our “normal” changeover day process goes like this; the laundry team goes in, followed by the cleaning team, bed making team, a supervisor to check standards, our housekeeper, Mel for the final sign off and alarm safety check and then as owners, we go in an add the final touches, including your cream tea! And all that assumes that there have been no maintenance issues on the way, whereby Simon would also have been in to the cottage and in certain cases, called in the plumber, electrician or Wifi support / further specialist maintenance support as required.
I expect you will immediately see the challenge to ensure the team effort comes together, and keeps everyone safe in the workplace whilst ensuring that everything is delivered like clockwork – including the final disinfectant stage! Once the disinfecting stage has taken place, there’s no running back in with the loo rolls, dishwasher tabs or missing towels any more, for a start!
Your cottage will then be sealed ready for your arrival.
Planning your visit
You will be aware that pubs and restaurants are also having to change their procedures limit the number of people that can dine at one time. Many establishments are also providing Takeaway – we have had some excellent food from The Bank, The Deck and Temple during lockdown – but you will definitely need to book in advance. Similarly, local attractions and days out have had to reduce their capacity to maintain social distancing which means that it will be essential to plan ahead if there is a particular place you hope to visit. In 2020, it pays to be organised! Helpfully Bude Area Tourist Board has done the research for you and is keeping an up to date list of the places in Bude that are open and details of how to book them.
Continuous Improvement
We are up for the challenge and committed to providing the “Broomhill experience” that our regular guests know and love. We can’t promise that everything will be exactly the same as it was – in fact we know that some aspects definitely WON’T be the same as they were, such as the tactile welcome, the guest tours, and spontaneous access to all the facilities. But we can promise that the team will do their best to keep you safe and deliver an enjoyable holiday for you.
We are also committed to continuous improvement and will therefore be closely listening to guest feedback and adapting our new processes accordingly as the season unfolds. We hope you will play your part by providing feedback on your experience, along with any good ideas to help us adapt and improve!
Many thanks to all our guests that are planning to visit us during this new era – we are very grateful of your support and look forward to seeing Broomhill Manor “buzzing” once more!
Best wishes from
Alan, Linda, Simon, Mel, Fran, Terance, Jessica, Toby, Jen, Jo, Gemma, Ellie and the many, many more team members involved in making Broomhill Manor a special holiday destination
