What a year it’s been for Bude! Following a Bronze Award in 2014 which was surpassed with a Gold Award in 2015, Bude has now been awarded the Gold again for 2016! The British Travel Awards (BTA) are particularly important to Bude and the tourism industry, since the awards are voted for by the public.
Bude clearly delighted its many visitors this year, who voted in their droves, beating off competition from other coastal resorts such as Tenby and Blackpool to win the coveted Gold award for Bude.
And is if that’s not enough, Bude Tourist Infomation Centre has also been awarded Gold in the Cornwall Tourist Information Centre category at the recent Visit Cornwall awards and is now through to the National Visit England Awards to represent the South West of England!
About Bude, North Cornwall
The first stop in Cornwall, where Cornwall starts – Bude is often the sunniest place in the UK (during 2013 it was sunniest overall for the whole year!). The area has a laid-back charm that has not been spoiled by development and is traditional in a cherished way.
There are oodles of beautiful beaches, spectacular views and unique natural attractions including the highest cliffs in Cornwall and one of the few sea canals in the country. Other highlights include the Sea Pool, the Life Saving School (established back in 1955), the annual Festival’s – especially Bude Art and Music (BAAM) and the Jazz Festival.
Bude is large enough to provide a good range of facilities with a choice of accommodation, shops, restaurants and sports facilities, yet has avoided the attention of chain hotels, eateries and bars. The nightlife is quiet, relaxed and low-key. They say good things come in small packages – they certainly do when it comes to Bude!
