The Carnival has been a traditional event here since 1920 when it took place in December. Now very much a summer event, the carnival has grown into one of the key events in the town each year, with lots of effort going into the many floats and elaborate costumes that you will see in the procession.
The afternoon events start at 2:00pm with the Charity Fete in the Castle Grounds. The Judging starts at 5.30pm where the winners are presented with their awards and then the procession leaves the Lower Wharf at 6.30pm to set off round the town to the applause of the crowd!
